Local Chef and previous Restaurant owner, Susie Blue is at it again, this time in her own back yard. This chef-turned-baker is now delighting those who stop in on their way to the mountain - with a simple, yet incredible selection of healthy and hearty SourDoughs, Baguettes, Pastries and Sandwiches. Born out of love and respect for these humble deli creations, Susie’s desire is to bring quality ingredients to the case and her wood plank shelves. Simply put, she’s here to bring you a small bakery experience you can feel good about. The authentic breads are baked from Susie’s own recipes incorporating locally sourced fresh, wholesome, organic and tasteful ingredients. Mt Hood Baking Co.’s aroma is a simple down to earth experience with a rustic vibe…

“Here I am again… trying something new

…says owner and chef Susie Blue. I started in Music, then found a love for cooking. I eventually opened and ran a successful Restaurant in Portland’s Montavilla District, before deciding to scale back and try a few new things. The past few years, I’ve been perfecting my skills from wood fired pizzas to Artisanal Sourdough breads.”

”While this is not my first time running a culinary business… this time it’s just super niched out. I love preparing a small variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, and a few pastry favorites. I’m used to experimenting while following traditional and even a modern recipe here and there. Most of all I enjoy creating new and exciting selections - from Pastries to sandwiches - to renew our menu and engage the interest of customers”, Susie adds.
Chef Susie is joined by her longtime life partner Jessie, who brings years of experience handling literally everything except the baking, all with a genuine smile.

Mt Hood Baking Company is now open on weekends for breakfast and lunch, with varying menus from week to week. Customers can expect expanded summer hours.
